What is computer for this generation? It is a technology use by human to impart knowledge to learner and give the essential of being genius of the human. It give the simplest of all things not just for fun but also but give purposes of the learners to become innovative and resourceful for the use of the computer. Computer also is a handy tool that you can carry wherever you are.

 Lesson 11 the computer as the teacher’s tool, it can fact support the constructivist and social constructivist paradigms of learning. The Constructivism was introduced by Piaget (1981) and Bruner (1990). They gave the stress to knowledge discovery of new meaning/concepts/principles in the learning process. The knowledge making the students engage in gathering unorganized information from which they can include ideas of they are doing.

                                                                                                        

Social Constructivism is the knowledge that governed by the society. The knowledge of learning affect from the society that surround us. It can influence the learning of the students. It focuses on integrating of the society where they live. Based on the two learning theories, the teacher can employ the computer as the information tool, a communication tool, a constructive tool, as co-constructive tool, and a situating tool.

The computer is the provider of information needed for the learner that we can call an information tool. It is the source where information gathered. Giving the fact that internet can serve as a channel for global communication and well be the key tool for video teleconferencing sessions. When the tool manipulating information, visualizing one’s understanding, and building new knowledge is called Constructive tool.

Co-constructive tool students can use to work cooperatively and construct a shared understanding of the new knowledge. On the other hand if the computer can create 3-D images on display to give the user the feeling that are situated in a virtual environment is called situating tools, it means of virtual reality (RS) extension system.    

                                                                           

Computer as the communication tool has been used in communication as evident by social networking sites, such as Facebook, twitter, Friendster and etc. With the use of computer the communication of people is easy to achieve rather than before.

            Today as the way of learning, the new generation of learners more attainable when the teachers use technology for teaching. As the application given by the technology, it help for educators to impart knowledge in an easy way of elaborating things. As I observe today, there are many application can we use to simplify things.

            Our teacher in Ed. Tech. 2 give us an assignment of application that can help us in a certain subjects that he gave us. That kind of application help for every learner and educator for their learning activity and enhance for their knowledge.             Today we can observe that the students need some kind of gadgets to give justification of their wants. As an educator you can introduce technology not just for fun but in the purpose for helping them to learn more by the used of computer. With the use of computer the learners can easy access the needs of their learning. Teachers guide the learners for giving information not for abusing technology with the hand of learners.

THE COMPUTER AS A TUTOR

When can we say that the computer acts as a tutor? Maybe we can say that the computer is our life through the new world. Computer is a guide or tool in teaching and give more learning in to the students. Teachers impart knowledge through technology. Also computer can be the tutor of every learners and students. It bring us the wonder of human ingenuity and carry out the mathematical and logical operation. Through computer the learners can receive information, can understand instruction trough the guide given, keep in mind the information then apply the knowledge and roles. 

Computer play it roles as a tutor, because in a click computer give the information you wanted. Provides the learning environment in way you like, delivers learning instruction in an easy way.  It reinforce learning through hands on and can practice at the end computer provide feedback of what did you understand. This new technology access our life in an easy way and can bring advantages and dis advantages in the users.

In year 2000 the new technology is trend until now. When I was in my secondary level in studies, we don’t have any gadgets use in teaching. Teachers provides visual aids as they teach. Usually they use in teaching a direct method. They always lecture and if they wanted have an example they use picture. The computer at the office of the principal is use for the other activity. We don’t even know how to use a computer even to use the mouse of the gadgets. We only seen it but not totally know what is it.

Now the new generation learners adopt the technology as the part of their life. They don’t even like if they don’t have any cellphone, or any latest technology endorse by the company of technology materials.  Attitude, needed, teaching strategies, dress up, even in communication varied from old generation to new generation.

As we all know in the past generation the teachers are the sources of information of every students. Today the teacher is the facilitator of the learning environment of the students. With the use of technology the teachers teaches more comfortable than in a traditional way of teaching. Today’s teacher use power point to be more comfortable in teaching, to motivate their students, to apply the knowledge inside the four wall of the classroom.

In traditional teaching, the teacher uses their mouth, body, heart and soul that can their students can learn. The passion in teaching to elaborate and impart knowledge is there in their mind and heart. As we can see that no other technology can replace the teacher in term of teaching. The computer is useful in teacher to be comfortable and reliable for teaching in a four wall of the classroom.

As the application of this new generation, teacher not only use the computer as a motivation but it can assess the learning of the class. We can use the computer in the whole class duration in every teaching to do. Through the use of computer knowledge is on the tip of our finger. We the teacher can facilitate the students to be a good user of technology not an abuser.

Through computer technology teachers saw the strengthening of learning on computer literacy. The new generation learners can now interact with the use of computer, sending messages through computer, and can response with the use of computer. Soon computer-assisted instructed CAI was introduced using the principle of individualized learning through a positive climate that includes realism and appeal with drill exercises that uses color, music and animation.

With the use of computer in the classroom the teacher will be able to demonstrate a new lesson, present new material, illustrate how to use new programs and show new web sites. Here are the uses of the computer in education through communication media. In internet, we can use E-mail, chat, blog sites, news services (print, video clip), music/movie/television room. Through Multimedia we can use text, sound, graphics, chart, photos, power point presentation, CD, DVD player, VCD, Educational software.

The programs normally installed in an ordinary modern PC are the Microsoft office, Power point, Excel, Internet explorer, Yahoo or Google, Adobe Reader, MSN, Windows media player. But the technology has a progressive industrial business and has more high technology that appears in every three months.Year 2000 I noticed that cellphone usually used is Motorola brand until it evolved every other month. But today high technology is on our face even the children are skillful to use unlike in time of progressing technology. Today it’s so easy to buy some PC to help for the needs in school. Without computer the exertion of teachers, students, employee, etc. is so difficult. As the part of this new technology I am bless that there is computer help to my need every activity given by the teachers.

The technology is helpful to us but we need to understand that there are disadvantages and advantages of the technology to us. Computer literacy can help us to every paper work and presentation and as teacher we impart knowledge to our learner in order to them learn on how to use. To become globally competitive in term of knowledge through technology everything is so easy.
